Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • Sitting out practice because of an injury that "just needs rest" but never fully clears
  • A coach or trainer who told you to see a specialist, not just tape it and go
  • Favoring one side without realizing it, and feeling it show up elsewhere
  • Nervous to cut, pivot, or push off full speed since the injury happened
  • Getting cleared to play “pain-free” but still not feeling like yourself out there
  • Missing another season because the same injury keeps coming back

Two or more? Keep reading.

Why It Happens

An injury is a symptom. Something causes it.

You're the one who plays through it because sitting out feels worse than the pain does. Which is exactly why you're still calling it "just a tweak," and exactly why you're reading this now. Sports injuries rarely come from bad luck alone. It's usually some mix of factors.

A strength imbalance between one side and the other. Mechanics that break down under fatigue late in a game. Training load that ramped up faster than your body could adapt to it. Find the actual driver and you can fix it, not just the symptom it left behind. That matters more for athletes than almost anyone else, because "good enough for daily life" isn't the bar. Cutting, sprinting, throwing, and jumping demand more from a joint than walking around does. A plan that stops short of that leaves you one step from re-injuring it. Our therapists have trained and competed themselves. They know what it takes to trust your body again.

Physical therapist assessing an athlete's movement mechanics after a sports injury

The Honest Truth

Waiting on an injury doesn’t make the season wait on you.

If you keep waiting

  • You keep playing on compensations that put other joints at risk
  • A minor strain turns into the kind of injury that ends a season
  • You lose confidence in the joint long after it's technically healed

If you start this week

  • You know the actual cause by the end of visit one
  • You train with a therapist who understands what your sport demands
  • You get a plan with an endpoint: a real one, not an open tab of visits

Nobody regrets starting too early. Seasons don't pause while an injury sorts itself out, and neither should you. Every week you wait to find the actual cause is a week closer to missing time you can't get back.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built for your sport.

You get a plan with an endpoint, built one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit. Here’s what the four phases look like for an athlete.

Weeks 1–2

Pain

Calm it down without losing your season.

Hands-on techniques calm the injury and manage inflammation. Meanwhile, we figure out what you can safely keep doing.

Weeks 2–6

Prime

Get your movement back.

Targeted mobility work restores the range and mechanics your sport demands, addressing whatever's been quietly guarding the injury.

Weeks 6–10

Perform

Build strength and power, not just stability.

Sport-specific strengthening builds the power, speed, and control your position actually requires, not a generic exercise sheet.

Weeks 10+

Prevent

Return to your sport, not just to normal life.

Cutting, sprinting, jumping, and throwing get tested under real, game-speed load before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.

I had a partial knee replacement and started PT two days later with Dr. Wong. After six weeks, I am very pleased that I have resumed all my normal activities, including golf. I credit Dr. Wong with helping make this possible.

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for a sports injury.

Both. We work with weekend warriors, competitive adult athletes, and youth athletes across a range of sports. The evaluation and plan get tailored to the specific demands of your sport and position, whether that's a growing teenager's throwing shoulder or a masters runner's Achilles.

Usually, yes, in some modified form. Total shutdown isn't always necessary and can actually cost you conditioning you'll need to earn back later. We figure out what's safe to keep doing, adjust your training load around the injury, and progress you back toward full participation as you improve.

We don't clear you just because the pain is gone. Return to sport comes after functional testing under real, game-speed load, cutting, sprinting, jumping, or throwing, depending on what you play, to confirm the joint holds up the way it needs to. You get a plan with an endpoint: you’ll always know which phase you're in and what's left before you're cleared to go all-in.
