What We Treat

Pre & post-surgery rehab in Kingwood.

The countdown to your surgery date. The uncertainty about what happens after. Both go better with a plan. One that starts before you're wheeled into the operating room, and carries you all the way back to normal.

Sound Familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • A surgery date on the calendar and no idea what to actually do before it
  • Worried you'll walk into the operating room already deconditioned
  • Stiff and guarded weeks after the operation, afraid to move the wrong way
  • Handed a photocopied exercise sheet at discharge and sent on your way
  • No clear sense of when you'll be cleared to drive, lift, or get back to work
  • Nervous about re-injuring the joint the moment you try to push it

Why It Matters

Surgery fixes the structure. Rehab restores the function.

You're the one who makes sure everyone else gets to their appointments. Which is exactly why your own surgery kept getting pushed to “next month,” and exactly why you're reading this now. A surgeon repairs the joint, the tendon, the ligament. Strength, motion, and confidence don't come back on their own just because the structure is fixed.

Going in weak and stiff usually means coming out weak and stiff. Every week spent guarding a joint before surgery is a week of muscle you'll have to rebuild afterward. That's why the work on both sides of the operation matters. Preparing your body beforehand gives you a stronger starting point to recover from. Guiding it afterward, through your surgeon's protocol, keeps you from doing too little, or too much. Too little stalls you out. Too much sets you back. A root-cause plan on both ends is what actually gets you back to normal.

The Honest Truth

Waiting on rehab doesn’t make surgery day wait on you.

If you skip the prep work

  • You go into the operating room weaker than you need to be
  • Recovery after surgery drags out longer than it has to
  • A generic handout leaves you guessing whether you're doing too much or too little

If you start this week

  • You walk into surgery stronger and more prepared
  • A Doctor of PT coordinates your rehab with your surgeon's protocol from day one
  • You get a plan with an endpoint: a real one, not an open tab of visits

Nobody regrets starting too early. Every week, someone in our clinic wishes they'd called the day surgery got scheduled, not the week before it. Your surgery date isn't waiting on you. It's already on the calendar. The only question is what kind of shape you're in when it arrives.

How We Fix It

The same four phases. Built around your surgery date.

You get a plan with an endpoint, built one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, every visit. Here’s what the four phases look like before and after an operation.

Before Surgery

Pain

Walk in as strong as you can.

Pre-surgical prep calms pain and builds as much strength and mobility as possible before your procedure. That gives you a stronger starting point to recover from.

Early Post-Op

Prime

Protect the repair while it heals.

Working within your surgeon's protocol, we manage swelling, restore safe motion, and get you moving again without putting the repair at risk.

Mid Recovery

Perform

Rebuild the strength surgery can't restore.

Progressive strengthening rebuilds the muscle and control lost before and during surgery, layered in as your tissue clears each healing milestone.

Return to Life

Prevent

Get back to normal, or back in the game.

Walking, lifting, and returning to work or sport get tested under real load before you’re cleared to go all-in: that’s the endpoint, not just another appointment.

I have been very impressed and happy with the 8 weeks of physical therapy I received from Next Level. Their techniques significantly improved my ability to recover from a total knee replacement. I'm back to playing tennis at a reasonable level in just 9 weeks since the surgery.

Questions, Answered

What people ask before booking for surgery prep and recovery.

It's not required, but it helps. The stronger and more mobile your joint is going into surgery, the more you have to work with coming out of it. Pre-surgical sessions focus on building strength and motion in the area, and around it, so you're not starting your recovery from a deficit. It's a short investment of time that can make the after easier.

That depends entirely on your surgeon's protocol, some procedures start rehab within days, others wait several weeks to protect the repair. We coordinate directly with your surgeon's timeline so you start at the right moment, not too early and not later than you need to.

It varies a lot by procedure, a scope is a different timeline than a joint replacement, and by how the surgery went. What stays consistent is the path: you move through preparation, protection, rebuilding, and a return to full activity, in that order. Either way, you get a plan with an endpoint: you’ll always know which phase you're in and what's left, not an open-ended string of appointments.
